Maxome PCMX, a halogenated phenolic antimicrobial compound. It is best known for its broad-spectrum efficacy against bacteria (especially gram-positive), fungi, and viruses, making it the active ingredient in many household disinfectants and surgical antiseptics, most notably Dettol. Beyond this, it serves important functions as a preservative and antimicrobial agent in personal care products such as medicated soaps, hand washes, and wound cleansers, and is also used in veterinary applications.
